SCRAPTOWN (2019)
For Scraptown’s overworld I organised the different locations in order to set the pacing and flow of the game.
The goal of the Level’s Design is to present a challenge to which the solution will be shown later. “Present the lock before you give the key“ essentially. This means that a lot of the more important nodes are placed close to the start as they provide a narrative puzzle to solve. After going through a few of these, the players will essentially have a small ‘checklist’ to go off when exploring the rest of the world.
Small props were also scattered around for visual appeal and to build on the ‘junkyard’ aesthetic and feel of Scraptown.
